I, Carrie, grew up on a Farm in Hartford County, MD where my parents bred Old English Sheepdogs and my mom groomed and bred them and my dad was the professional dog handler, and they became champions and even top winning dogs.
On the farm there was cattle, 3 horses, pigeons and cats! Domestic tabby and interestingly white cats always around thru out my life that were sweet and gentle and wonderful pets.
After High school and going to a local community college I decided to become a Groomer and growing up with dogs and show dogs it made sense that I wanted to become a groomer, breeder and dog handler of Samoyeds that I had loved when I would see them at the dog shows.
I went on to become the #1 Samoyed breeder in the US in 1998, but I had top winning dogs long before that and for many years after that. I am still currently a co- breeder with families in the US primarily in NJ, CT and NY. During this time, we always had 2 to 4 house cats. We had adopted them from shelters and veterinarians unless they adopted us on their own.
As I have been ramping down over the past 10 years, I stopped grooming for a living, showing dogs for a living and cut back the breeding program more than 50% and will continue ramping down over the next 2 to 4 years as it is time for me to retire from the dog game and get my AKC Judges license. I am overqualified producing over 300 Samoyed champions to date and showing many other breeds of dogs like Dalmatians, Newfoundland, Poodles and other breeds to their titles.
My love for cats was always strong. I at last had the opportunity to find two beautiful Bengal’s from overseas in Ukraine and near Russia two lovely Bengals we named Brulé & Latte. I found that Cat breeders are very unlike dog breeders and do not have
their cats available at stud. Dog breeders do; cat breeders do not! If I wanted to breed Bengals, I realized that I would need to purchase a male Bengal if I wanted to breed and show Bengals.
